Wednesday 6 May 2026 Well done Summer! We were extremely proud to support Summer at the regional final of the #JackPetcheySpeakOut competition recently. Some of our year 10 students were invited to participate in a full day workshop that focussed on developing their public speaking skills. In previous years, giving this confidence has proved really beneficial for the spoken component of their English Language GCSE exam in year 11.Travelling to the regional final which was held at Moulsham High School in Chelmsford was a great opportunity and Summer was a fantastic ambassador for #JamesHornsby as she gave her speech in front of past winners and the Mayor of Chelmsford.#JamesHornsbyFamily #Zenith

Tuesday 5 May 2026 AT5 and our Biodiversity Drive! Congratulations to AT5 who are the first form group to build their own raised bed for our #Biodiversity drive. You will notice that the grass out the front is getting longer again- we aren't being lazy, we are supporting the environment! And to make it even better this year, we've been using a grant from Nature Park England to add raised beds to get a greater variety of plants to support wildlife… and add some interest into the wild meadow. A big congratulations to Harper from Discovery college who, earlier in the year, competed in the World Union of Karate-Do Federations British Open competition, winning team and individual gold silver and bronze medals!As a school, we couldn't be more proud of Harper! Wednesday 29 April 2026 Primary School Competitions #JamesHornsby regularly supports primary school events. Recently we hosted Primary school competitions for Key Stage 1 Football, Primary Cross Country and Year 3 & 4 Dodgeball.Our Key Stage 3 #Sports Leaders volunteered to help umpiring and refereeing, keeping score, time keeping, and welcoming visitors to the James Hornsby site. Tuesday 21 April 2026 Student Council Meeting - April 2026 Our #StudentCouncil came together for a fantastic and productive meeting recently! Monday 20 April 2026 Year 11 - Macbeth at Towngate Theatre Our Year 11s recently went to the Towngate Theatre for a production of #MacbethThe play was really well done, and the students found it so useful to see the play coming to life to prepare them for their GCSEs where they will face questions that they now have a real-life context for.
