Good attendance reminder!
Every day in school makes a real difference
Students who attend regularly do better. Even a
few days absence can add up and impact achievement.
The DfE say attendance above 95% means students are 30% more likely to meet or exceed expected targets.
Missing school can have unintended consequences when students miss school, they fall behind, they often find it harder to re-engage. The DfE says persistent absence is anyone missing school for 10% or more of their learning. Schools are required to address low attendance and parents should check the schools policy for attendance.
Attendance and parental responsibility
Parents are legally responsible for ensuring their child is in full-time education. Ofsted and the DfE expect schools to take attendance seriously.
Parents should be aware of the number of absences as they can add up and have an impact on learning and opportunities.
