Moving to James Hornsby was the best decision I ever made. The teachers are so encouraging and fun to work with – which makes students eager to learn.

Parents and carers should apply online using the Essex County Council Application for a Secondary School Place form. Students will normally be admitted at the age of eleven.
Priority of admissions will be given to siblings of children already at the school and children living in the school’s local area. The school’s capacity assessment indicates admission numbers of 180. All applications including mid-year applications, must be made in accordance with the co-ordinated admission scheme operated by the child’s home Local Authority.
Deadlines and proof of residence should be adhered to by applicants. Parents and Carers wishing their child to be considered for entry at James Hornsby School must name the school as one of their preferences on the form.
If applying for a place mid-year please download our form (on the right). The Essex County Council link to information regarding mid-year admission can be found HERE.
The James Hornsby School will increase its published admission number to 210 students from September 2020. Please see the 2020-2021 Admissions Policy for further information.
